The 200th anniversary of ribbon manufacturer, J.H. vom Baur Sohn is not only a cause for celebration.
It also raises the question of how a narrow fabrics firm has continued to stand the test of the times.
The search for an answer initially brings us to the Ronsdorf production halls, where some 100 looms
tirelessly interlock the warp and the weft at right angles to one another. A quick glance
at the archives soon reveals that two complementary strands also run through the history of the firm.
Seven generations of the vom Baur family have not only produced a host of narrow fabrics in the form of
ribbons, belts and tubular fabrics, they have also succeeded in weaving a successful path through two
hundred years of history. |
